Together Again Gala, pizza, cake and ice cream served along with entertainment by the Senior Singers. Wendy Miller will lead us in gentle stretching.

Note: Senior Spot will not be held on Fridays and in-person meetings are now 12:30 - 3:30 unless notified otherwise.

Lunch is served followed by a visit from Lori Barnes to lead our Sensational and Super Seniors Book Club. This month's selection is "Sweet Tooth", a spy thriller fiction novel, by Ian McEwan.

Gentle Yoga with Anne Anderson; Vail Daily Crossword Puzzle today – bring your pencil (pen) and a keen sense of competition. No fair starting before we meet. Today in history …..it’s wear two different colored shoes day as well as lumpy rug day. Our favorite though is “Lemonade Day” so let’s hoist a glass together and celebrate spring.

Wednesday, May 5Wendy Miller will lead us in gentle stretching followed by a zoom celebration of Cinco de Mayo. ReNae will enlighten us on the significance of this holiday. Would it surprise you to learn it’s a lesser holiday in Mexico and originally promoted in the U.S. by beverage companies hoping to cash in on a few extra sales. Fact is Cinco de Mayo sales of liquor rival those of Super Bowl. Advertising and Marketing – it’s the American way!
Friday, May 7 Lunch Bunch
Royal Marine Commando Steve will be joining us for a talk on Military History. Steve’s talks are so fascinating you may wish to invite a Vet buddy or two to our zoom meeting today. On this day in time Germany and Italy announced a military and political alliance known at the Rome-Berlin Axis, the year was 1939. Little did we know what was to come.

Gentle Yoga with Anne Anderson; Bingo Tournament today so get out your cards, markers and let’s go Bingo! ReNae will announce prizes and winners after we tally up results. In 1869 on this day a golden spike was driven in Promontory, Utah, marking the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the U.S.

Lori Barnes will lead our Sensational & Super Seniors Book Club with a review of The Other Alcott. (please see Lori’s notes in her email). We will also be having a “Taster’s Choice” discussion of favorite books each of you has chosen to share. Today we observe International Nurses Day. These brave women and women have dedicated their lives to being on the front line in the COVID pandemic battle.

It’s Game Day with ReNae. Have your activity bags at the ready and be prepared for some good competition. On this day, in 1948, Israel became an independent state.

Gentle Yoga with Anne Anderson' Vail Daily Crossword Puzzle. On this day in 1954 lawyer Thurgood Marshall scored a landmark victory as the U. S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional.

Wendy Miller will lead us in gentle stretching. Let’s move it so we don’t lose it! Pat Bagley will be stopping by with one of her historical heroines. It’s so kind of Pat to share her friends with our group. Today in history, the year is 1962, Marilyn Monroe shimmied on to the stage, stood before the microphone and sang a very memorable “Happy Birthday” to JFK. Who would have thought that film clip would be still be shown 50 years later.

Royal Marine Commando Steve will be stopping by to talk about WWII. Again, please invite your Vet friends or anyone who may be interested to this zoom program. Today is National Strawberries and Cream Day. How delicious.

ReNae will discuss our plan to reopen in person meetings scheduled for June 2. There are some new and exciting changes coming including lunches. Re Nae will be happy to answer questions you may have. It’s National Paper Airplane Day. Art Class with Miss Eddi….. she will show us a few fancy twists on paper planes. You will have an opportunity to decorate your plane so have your art kit available. We will be flying our planes and awarding prizes so start thinking about your entry.

Friday. 28 May, Lunch Bunch
Rick Fesler will give a talk and answer questions about a famous happening on Sunday, May 30. Indy 500….since Rick has attended at least 30 Indy 500’s we are sure his comments will be interesting.

Monday, 31 May, Memorial Day, no scheduled Zoom Meeting. However, you are all invited to attend a Memorial Service for Bill Hammon at Freedom Park, 3:00 PM in Edwards. There will be a military presence. Dr. Bill, a renowned Neurosurgeon with the U. S. Army had a rich legacy of service to our country. We will send a flyer for this event. Please watch for it.

Anne Anderson leads us in gentle yoga at 1:00. ReNae will be giving us an important history lesson featuring Booker T. Washington and how he rose from slavery to becoming a leading African American intellectual of the 19th century.

Wendy Miller will be joining us for her Pilates/Yoga gentle exercise session. Stay young, get that fascia moving. A good game of competitive Zilch to finish off the afternoon. It's William Wordsworth' birthday....."I wandered lonely as a cloud, that floats on high o'er vales and hills, when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils"...how appropriate for the first week of April. Back to earth, it's National Beer Day.
